A suspect has been charged with murder in connection to the recent basketball game shooting that left one man dead.
Devarius Taylor is charged with murder and aggravated assault after turning himself into authorities at the Yazoo City Police Department.
Chief Terry Gann said Taylor's bond has been set for $1 million dollars.
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said Dontavious Weekly, 29, of Yazoo City, was pronounced dead on the scene, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Gann said another victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting occurred in the 300 block of Chapman Street. Upon arrival, officers found two subjects suffering from gunshot wounds.
“A group was playing a basketball game, and an argument ensued over the game itself,” Gann said. “Following the argument, shots were fired, striking two individuals."
