The Yazoo City Indians and Lady Indians hit the road Tuesday night as they traveled to face the Ripley Tigers and Lady Tigers in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
The Indians, who were heavy favorites to win their district last week, suffered a disappointing finish to the tournament, dropping a 50-35 shocker to Greenwood in their opener before narrowly defeating Clarksdale 29-28 in the consolation game.
The third place conference finish sent them on the road to face the two-seeded 25-3 Ripley Tigers.
The Lady Indians will also face a daunting task as they are matched up with the No 1 seed Lady Tigers, who only dropped two games all season (27-2). The Lady Indians advanced to the playoffs after opening conference tourney play with a win over Rosa Fort. Unfortunately, they lost their next game to the Gentry Lady Rams, 45-25, and finished with the fourth seed.
