The Yazoo County Panthers are now 25-0 after an undefeated regular season. The panthers brought home two more wins last week on the road, defeating Humphreys County 98-38 and Charleston 62-74. Now the Panthers have their sights set on that precious "Gold Ball".
"God is good. This season has been amazing," said first year Panthers Coach Rahim Lockhart. "The way the guys have bought into the program has been phenomenal."
The Panthers are now headed to the Region 3 3A district tournament, held this week at Yazoo County High School, Feb. 12-15.
The Lady Panthers will also be participating in the district tournament as well with a new record of 16-7. The Lady Panthers defeated Charleston 47-27 and Humphreys County 65-57 on the road last week.
The Panthers are the #1 seed in the district tournament, and are expected to play at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14. The Lady Panthers are the #2 seed in their bracket and are also scheduled to play at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The winners of those games will move on to play for the District Championship on Friday, Feb. 15, starting at 7 p.m. for the girls, and 8:30 p.m. for the boys.
