Kory Gainwell had 157 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries, and Ben Luckett had 92 carries and two touchdowns on nine carries to lead Yazoo County to a 48-8 win over JZ George.
The Panthers’ dominant ground game racked up 365 yards and six touchdowns overall.
William Noel added a touchdown and 68 yards on five carries.
Luckett also completed 4-of-7 passes for 34 yards and a touchdown pass to Malik Banks.
Kenderian Dixon had two receptions for 17 yards, including a catch that set up Yazoo County’s first score.
Gainwell scored early on a six-yard run where he was met by defenders behind the line but kept fighting.
Luckett tacked on the next score for a 12-0 lead, but JZ George responded in the second quarter to cut it to 12-8 early in the second quarter. That was JZ George’s last offensive stand, however.
Luckett scored his second touchdown of the night to make it 21-8 with 7:18 to go in the second quarter.
Banks then tacked on a touchdown reception and Gainwell added the two point conversion for a 26-8 lead with 4:12 to go before halftime.
Gainwell added a four-yard touchdown up the middle, and Luckett added two points for a 34-8 lead before intermission.
Tredarius Carr had eight tackles and a sack, and Kenderian Dixon had nine tackles to lead the defense.
Cameron Shaffer had seven tackles.
Dyevionte Brown had four tackles with two for loss and a sack. DQ Anderson had four tackles for the Panthers.
This week the Panthers have a major challenge as Charleston comes to town. Charleston is 8-2 overall and undefeated in conference play. The Tigers defeated Humphreys County 42-14 last week.
