Manchester Academy scored 40 points in the first half on the way to a 46-0 win over Clinton Christian in a rain-soaked first round of the playoffs.
The decisive win sets up a rematch with St. Joseph, the team the Mavericks defeated 38-37 in overtime in the conference title game.
St. Joseph also enjoyed a big win in the first round of the playoffs with a 44-0 win over Winona Christian. Like Manchester, the Fighting Irish scored all but one of their touchdowns in the first half.
Blayke Dendy and Warner Griffin each had two touchdowns against Clinton Christian.
Dendy had two carries for 32 yards and a score and one reception for 20 yards and a touchdown.
Griffin had seven carries for 39 yards and a touchdown and also scored a pair of two-point conversions.
Will Fouche and Michael Williams also added touchdowns for Manchester.
Upton Hitt completed 2-of-4 passes for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Taylor Porter had six tackles, two sacks, three assists and a punt block to lead the Mavericks defense.
Cade Potter had six tackles, and William Fuller added five. Blayke Dendy and Griffin each had four tackles and four assists.
Tyler Reynolds had three tackles and a sack. Hayes Bardwell, Dylan Dendy, Wil Smith, and Stuart Hale added three tackles each, and Bob Black had two.
St. Joseph will prove to be a challenge this week after a first meeting that was decided by a two-point conversion in overtime.
The winner of this week’s game at Manchester will face the winner of the Centreville Academy vs. Brookhaven Academy game to determine which team advances to the state championship game.
