Yazoo City High School finished off its regular season with a bang.
The Indians won a 54-52 double overtime shootout with Rosa Fort to give them a 7-3 overall record (2-2 in conference) heading into the playoffs.
The game started out hot and only got hotter from there.
By the third quarter, Yazoo City trailed 21-20.
The Indians matched Rosa Fort’s pace every step of the way, and by the time the proverbial dust had cleared, they held a 54-52 lead.
The Herald was unable to get individual statistics from Yazoo City by press time.
The Indians begin their playoff run on Friday night when they travel to Pontotoc to face the Warriors.
Pontotoc is 9-2 on the season after falling 14-0 to Shannon in the regular season finale.
The Warriors are averaging over 350 yards per game and 35 points per game on offense.
Kickoff at Pontotoc is set for 7 p.m.
