The Rodney Adams era began at Yazoo City High School with a difficult 52-29 loss to Holmes Central on Friday night.
The first quarter was an action-packed battle that saw both teams reach the end zone. By the time the dust settled, the Jaguars held a 14-7 lead.
In the second quarter, Holmes Central hit its stride, outscoring Yazoo City 19-6 to push the lead to 33-13.
Scoring slowed down to a halt in the third quarter.
Both the Jaguars and Indians ratcheted up their defenses in a big way.
Holmes Central edged out Yazoo City in the quarter 6-0 to extend their lead to 39-13.
The Indians marched forward and began their comeback in the fourth quarter of play. They finally got the upper hand and outscored the Jaguars 16-13, but it was too little too late.
Yazoo City was defeated 52-29.
Next up for the Indians is a chance to right the ship against Humphreys County.
The Cowboys are 0-1 after falling 34-6 to South Delta in their opening contest.
Yazoo City hosts Humphreys County on Friday night at 7 p.m.
