The basketball season for the Benton Academy Lady Raiders ended on Tuesday night when they were defeated 42-25 by Christian Collegiate Academy in the first round of the Central AA Tournament.
Catie Merrell led the Lady raiders with seven points in the loss.
Madilyn Manor and Aubrey Taylor each had six in the defeat.
Benton Academy head coach Hall Redfearn thought it was a difficult season to manage for a number of reasons.
“This was a trying season for us,” Redfearn said. “We had to make a lot of adjustments due to injury and personal situations.
On a brighter note, the Lady Raiders will return a ton of talent, so brighter days are ahead for Benton.
“Everyone is coming back next year, so that’s a great thing,” Redfearn said. “Things should be better next year. I’m hoping to start practicing soon. We’ll work hard and get ready for next year.”
Benton ended the season with an 8-16 record.
