Samuel “Sammy” Flowers, 72, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 19, 1953, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to Alton C. Flowers and Gladys Price Taylor.
Sammy spent his childhood in Louise, Mississippi, and later moved to Clarksdale, where he proudly served with the Sheriff’s Department for many years. Following his dedicated career in law enforcement, he continued serving others while working as a security guard at Fitz Casino. Sammy also enjoyed target shooting and proudly competed in pistol-shooting competitions throughout the state for many years. After retiring, Sammy settled in Hernando, Mississippi, where he spent his remaining years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Sammy is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Judy Flowers; his children, Jared W. Flowers (Lindsey) and Morgan N. Flowers; his two cherished grandchildren, Everly Grace Flowers and Annsley Kay Flowers;his brother, Billy Yelton; four stepdaughters; six step grandchildren; and one step great granddaughter.
He will be remembered for his service to his community, his sometimes-stubborn spirit, and his devotion to family. Sammy will be laid to rest in Yazoo City in a private ceremony. All arrangements are under the direction of Stricklin King Funeral Home.
