Robert Inman Leister, 82, of Clinton, Mississippi, passed away on March 21, 2026, due to complications from a stroke. He died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.
Bob was born on February 3, 1944, in Holyoke, Massachusetts, to Herman and Louise. The family relocated to Mississippi during his teen years and he graduated from Benton High School and Mississippi State University. He enjoyed a long career as an industrial engineer and home builder.
Bob was known for his devotion to family. His passions in life were golf, jokes, gardening, residential home construction and metal building manufacture. He was affectionately called “The Bunk” by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all who loved him.
Bob was preceded in death by wife, Barbara Ertle Leister; parents, Herman Maurice Leister and Mildred Louise Inman Leister.
He is survived by wife, Susan Gregersen Leister; daughters, Adonna Lynn Leister Boykin (Billy), Cheryl Leister Moore (Greg) and Karen “JoJo” Leister; step-daughters, Laci Gregersen Pittman (Russell) and Leslie Gregersen Herrin (Phil); grandchildren, Gregory Alan Moore, Jr. (Ellen), Ann Merritt Moore, Billy Scott Boykin III (Taylor) and Kristin Boykin Tinsley (Chandler); step-grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Herrin and Lillian Elizabeth Pittman; great-grandchildren, William Charles Moore and Parker Grace Moore; and sisters, Martha Inman Leister Ferri and Virginia Inman Leister Ross (David).
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Melrose Baptist Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Melrose Baptist Church, 7883 MS-Hwy 433 South, Bentonia, MS, 39040.
