The Benton Academy Raiders held Delta Streets to just 13 points this past Friday night, which on most nights would be enough to pull out a win.
Unfortunately, the offense could only put up two points as the Raiders dropped a 13-2 decision.
“Our kids played hard tonight and we had several opportunities to score,” said Benton head coach Ken Burton. “We were inside the 10 yard four times, but we just couldn’t get it done. The defense played great. We only gave up one long touchdown. It was 10-2 after three quarters and they kicked a field goal in the last seconds to make it 13. We’re going to keep plugging.”
Waylon Dewitt led the way on the ground with 15 carries for 65 yards followed by Gavis Scoby with 59 yards on 17 carries.
Nathan Bigford’s 10 tackles led the defensive effort followed by Colton Howell with seven and Rye Yeates and Scoby with six apiece. Benton travels to Amite Friday.
