As the community begins the new year, 2023 brings with it county-wide elections. From district supervisors to a variety of county posts, including sheriff, chancery clerk, circuit clerk, tax collector and tax assessor, the political season has begun in Yazoo County.
Yazoo County Circuit Clerk Robert Coleman said the qualifying deadline for candidates interested in any of those posts started this week on Tuesday, Jan. 3. He said qualifying deadline ends on Feb. 1.
“Beginning on Jan. 3, we have qualifying packets and information available in my office at the Courthouse,” Coleman said. “These packets will be available throughout the month. Anyone wishing to pick up a packet can simply come by our office.”
The Yazoo Herald will also have advertising packages available through the newspaper’s political manager Sheila Trimm-Young. Interested candidates may visit her at The Herald’s office on Grand Avenue, call 662-746-4911 or email sheila@yazooherald.net.
