Voters returned to the polls last week for the county-wide primary runoff elections with only 10.22 percent of registered voters casting their ballots.
These voting results include 144 accepted absentee ballots, which were counted during last Tuesday’s voting process.
For the post of sheriff, Jeremy “Bull” McCoy secured the Democrat bid with 1,231 votes. Noble Brooks received 1,058 votes.
Also vying for the post of sheriff, Wade Zimmerman secured the Republican bid with 938 votes. Jeff Curtis received 588 votes.
Both McCoy and Zimmerman will face Independent candidate Theodis Freeman in the general election.
For the post of chancery clerk, Romeka Mack secured the Democrat bid with 1,195 votes. Esa “Essie” Bryant received 984 votes.
Mack will face incumbent Quint Carver, who is running as an Independent candidate, in the general election.
For the post of tax collector, Miranda Alexander secured the Democrat bid with 1,237 votes. Marcia Arp received 1,004 votes.
Alexander will face Independent candidate Anita Pigg in the general election.
For the post of Northern District constable, Henry Collins Jr. secured the Democrat bid with 607 votes. Ceasar Felton received 523 votes.
Collins will face Republican candidate Sean Echols in the general election.
The general election will be held on Nov. 7.
