WHO: The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT).
WHAT: Temporary closure.
WHEN: Monday, July 25, 2022.
WHERE: U.S. Highway 49 southbound between Petrified Forest Road and Kennebrew Road in Hinds County.
WHY: A section of U.S. 49 southbound concrete buckled resulting the temporary closure of the roadway.
HOW: Traffic remains passable in both directions as MDOT crews worked quickly to get traffic in the head-to-head configuration on the northbound side. The repair is currently underway. MDOT will update the public once the repair is complete and the roadway is open.
