Mississippi State Hospital’s annual Christmas Parade will roll through campus on Friday, December 1 at 10:00 a.m. Combining a movie and decades idea, this year’s theme is "Top Movies from 1960 to 2010".
Participants are asked to decorate a float with movie themes such as Jurassic Park, Avatar, Jaws, Cleopatra, Ghostbusters, 9 to 5, Grease, Up, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Finding Nemo, Batman, Men in Black, The Love Bug, Shrek, Spiderman, Cars, The Lion King, and Pirates of the Caribbean. There are no Christmas movies permitted, but each entry is encouraged to add a Christmas twist.
Friends of Mississippi State Hospital board members will serve as parade judges. Awards will be presented in the following categories: Most Magical Award, Christmas Star Award, Holiday Spirit Award, Christmas Joy Award, Best Christmas Twist Award, and Best Support Services Award.
In addition to approximately 20 floats, several metro area middle and high school bands will march in this year’s parade. A special Tin Soldier Award will be presented to the best band.
