GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi's Summer Session Fast Track was a week-long, day camp that offered young musicians, ages 9-14, insight into the creative and technological processes of recording and performing. During this week-long day camp, students learned about what it takes for a career in the music business as the creative and technological processes of recording and performing were explored.
Students started the week off by learning about the cultural heritage and the influence of Mississippians on American music. They studied works by Mississippi artists featured in the Museum to inspire their final camp production. Students also received instruction on recording techniques, music production, and live performance techniques as well.
Campers explored song structure, harmony, melody, lyric writing, and vocal technique while also collaborating with industry professionals and other students which culminated in a final production.
Sponsors that partnered with GRAMMY Museum Mississippi to help make this camp possible included Maddox Foundation, Ella Fitzgerald Foundation, Mississippi Arts Commission, and Entergy. Food and beverage partners were made of local businesses including Sonic, Lenny's, Domino's, Zaxby's, and Nehi Bottling Company.
