Charles Krauthammer was one of my favorite columnists. Krauthammer was a liberal-turned-conservative political columnist who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1987 for his column in The Washington Post. Sadly, he died June 21, 2018.
Because we think differently, we arrive at different conclusions, morals, values, and principles even when given the same information. The information is the same for any who makes time to find it. Krauthammer made it one of his chief goals to make time to find the truth.
Krauthammer was one of those rare birds who changed his mind about politics. He called himself a Great Society Democrat “who metamorphosed into one of the nation’s most cogent conservative voice” according to his obituary in The New York Times. He ranked FDR and Ronald Reagan numbers one and two of 20th-century presidents respectively, and he freely criticized both sides of the political aisle when they lacked reason or logic.
In the introduction to his book, “Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes and Politics” (2013), Krauthammer wrote, “You can have the most advanced and efflorescent of cultures. Get your politics wrong, however, and everything stands to be swept away. This is not ancient history. This is Germany 1933.” Great read, by the way!
While contemplating writing about the latest unhinged vitriol spewing from the LEFT, I remembered a column Krauthammer had written years ago about radical violent leftist rhetoric. As I searched for that particular column, I found a host of columns with similar themes, and that’s when I had an epiphany, i.e. “a moment of sudden revelation or insight.” Speaking of Germany in 1933, the LEFT has always been that way.
So, when Minority Leader Chuck Schumer threatened Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh on the steps of the Supreme Court, he was following his natural instincts. Schumer: “I want to tell you Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”
Earlier last week, Donna Brazile, former interim DNC Chairwoman told RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel to “go to hell” on a live FOX News broadcast. A local Texas museum director tweeted, “I hope every single one of you pieces of s*** that votes Republican, dies today.” Democrats across the nation are tweeting #solidarity with retweets of a meme saying, “For the record, if I do get the coronavirus I’m attending every MAGA rally I can.” The week ended with someone leaving a note on Representative Elise Stefanic’s (R-NY) car that read, “Rot in Hell Fascist Pig.”
From Minority Leader Schumer down to the rank-in-file leftists who threaten to spread the corona virus at MAGA rallies and leave hellish notes on personal vehicles, the LEFT are staying true to their roots of intimidation and threats of violence. Their actions and words stand in stark contrast to Krauthammer who could spar with the best and win arguments based on logic and reason.
Coincidently Democrats changed qualifying standards for their next debate and bumped candidate Tulsi Gabbard off the stage, leaving two white septuagenarians to vie for the Democratic nomination for president. No wonder Democrats from DC to the corner drug store are raving violence toward anyone who thinks differently from them.
