We recently published a letter to the editor from a resident who was thrilled to have the opportunity to take computer classes offered by Holmes Community College right here in Yazoo.
We regularly receive positive feedback about the convenience of having classes available in Yazoo.
Our community needs to make a commitment to help make sure that those who can benefit the most from these classes are aware of the opportunities that exist.
Education is the key to earning a better living, and most of the courses that are being offered in Yazoo City were chosen with improving our local workforce in mind.
There is no doubt that there are people in our community who can benefit from these classes who might not have been able to travel to community college campuses outside of Yazoo County. If you know someone who might be interested in taking classes in Yazoo, please make sure they are aware of the opportunity.
Daniel Haralson, who oversees Yazoo County’s workforce development efforts and works directly with Holmes Community College at the Yazoo location, will do whatever it takes to help.
Haralson was an effective leader at our local WIN Job Center until the state closed our Yazoo’s center. He has a gift for helping people improve themselves and find good opportunities.
See the ad on page 3 of today’s edition for registration dates, and visit the Yazoo County Workforce Development office anytime on Fifteenth Street to learn more about what’s available.
Bringing Holmes Community College to Yazoo City was a great service that can help improve many lives. We’ve just got to be sure we take full advantage of the opportunities.
