Generally, my article is published on the first Wednesday of each month, but in view of the 2020 election, I requested to have it released on the second Wednesday of November. Sadly, what I did not know at the time was that as I would sit to write, the outcome of the presidential election would still be hanging in the balance. Regardless of outcome, the resounding message, spoken and unspoken, clearly conveyed by those who voted for the Democratic presidential candidate is, “IT’S ALL ABOUT ME!! I LOVE ME more than anything or any issue!” Mind you, this in an opinion editorial, but as the old saying goes, “actions speak louder than words.” I only wish those who so boldly supported and cast their vote for a party which promotes death would be honest and not deceive others about the condition of their heart. What would be wrong with a bumper sticker and/or tattoo, proudly advertising their voting choice? “I VOTED DEMOCRATIC. I SUPPORT THE MURDER OF INNOCENT CHILDREN!” The action of casting a vote for the party supporting the “right to choose” spoke their true heart – why not let others know!? Even worse, millions who profess to know the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ cast votes for the party of death as well. So, what’s a believer to do . . .
As a pastor, writer, counselor, life coach, and consultant, maintaining spiritual composure and not allowing my flesh to run ramshod has been quite the challenge. Then again, The Word is a constant reminder - dead people live like dead people. I say it all the time! Those who do not know deliverance from spiritual death can only live death in their flesh. The Apostle Paul, in his second letter to a young preacher named Timothy, cautioned Timothy that there would come a time when people (even those who claimed to be followers of Christ) would chant the “ME MANTRA” in deafening tones. Were you to take the time to read his letter, you would see that Paul writes at length about perilous times and perilous people. (II Timothy 3)Although the forms of shameless living are multitudinous, the overarching tone is that, in spite of hearing truth, and even for some KNOWING truth, the hearts of the people would turn toward a love for self above all things. It’s the WORD! (And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting . . . Romans 1:28)
I recall conversations and teaching in seminary days regarding the Sovereign Will of God vs the Permissive Will of God. This is far too broad a subject to address here, yet in reality I must face the fact that there are things which God permits - lawless renegades who promote murdering babies taking national offices through manipulative election tactics, for example. (God’s Permissive Will) At the same time, God’s allowance of the rebellious will of fallen men does not, nor can it ever thwart His sovereign will! In other words, we know how the story ends! REGARDLESS of popular opinion, those who die without Christ’s redemption will forever die alongside every imp, angel and agent of Satan himself in the Lake of Fire exposed in the Revelation. Those who have endured the rebellious and godless, finding redemption in Christ, by faith, will ultimately live a life without end, where death and the destruction of sin can never again impact or alter. (God’s Sovereign Will)
One would think, after four-hundred years in Egyptian bondage,when they were freed, to have the Israelites (God’s Chosen people) follow, promote and live TRUTH would have been a shoe-in. Yet, as we know, even they turned back to Egyptian ways of idol worship and godless behavior. (Read of the Exodus) So, the people of America have spoken (sixty million or so) with their vote. Perhaps by the time this article publishes we will know the final outcome. Perhaps this particular presidential election will wind up in the hands of the U S Supreme Court because of all of the Democratic chicanery exercised in an effort to steal instead of rightfully gain. Regretfully, with a large segment of our nation’s population voting for godless principles and the party which promotes them, the message from a mass representation of the American culture is clear – “LEAVE US ALONE!! We are proudly selfish, amoral, and godless!”
• Black Lives Matter – promoting hatred, division, and advancement of one people group over another – LOVERS OF SELF!
• Abortion on Demand – the freedom to drop my pants and get off like a dog in the street anytime I want, without any personal responsibility for the life which results – LOVERS OF SELF!
• Equality for All - God’s word says that a man who’s unwilling to work has no right to eat! Taking from those who work and possess a value system, redistributing theirwealth to those who are ruthless, lazy, and immoral - LOVERS OF SELF!
• Advancing Illegal Immigration – What’s so confusing about the word ILLEGAL!? LOVERS OF SELF! - God taught His people to build walls and protect their own – allowing others to enter only by right means, for protection and preservation. (Check out the book of Nehemiah if you don’t believe me!)
• COVID 19 – the intentional release of a lab-created virus as an effort to manipulate and control world populations – LOVERS OF SELF!
Oh, the list could go on and on . . . If at the time of the publishing of this article the liberal leftist milksops of the demonically led Democratic party have prevailed, understand, as stated, God will permit their rebellion! He will not reward it, but He will permit it. We, followers of Christ who DID work to protect God, Country, Life and Family, who worked to sound a clarion call for truth, will continue to do the same. God’s sovereign will cannot be legislated out or taken by force. (Communism, Marxism or Socialism, attempted or implemented through fascist tactics – as we’ve seen in this election cycle) What cannot be stolen is the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary – eternal Hope for all who seek Him. So, we will press on. Yet, the word also clearly reminds us, we may press on in greater oppression because “The Egyptians” of our day will likely take many things captive which once were free. Nonetheless, what we know is that even the bonds of sin, death,and Hell itself cannot contain those who drinks from the water of everlasting life, found in Christ alone. (Revelation 1:17 & 18)
