Operation Gun Control kicked off earlier this month, and Yazoo County deputies have recovered at least four weapons off the street.
The partnership with the Yazoo City Police Department and the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department continues until the end of the month with the goal of recovering stolen and unregistered weapons off the streets.
Sheriff Jeremy McCoy said his department has recovered at least four weapons, including a related drug arrest in the Shady Lane community.
McCoy said, while conducting an Operation Gun Control campaign, deputies noticed an illegally parked vehicle at the Shady Lane Apartment complex.
“When deputies made contact, there was a strong odor of marijuana and smoke coming from the vehicle,” McCoy said. “After further investigation, deputies found 40 grams of marijuana, several individual plastic bags, a scale and a firearm.”
Frankco Allen was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and was also charged with the enhancement of being in possession of a firearm.
McCoy said more charges are possible as the investigation continues.
