Wayman Douglas Grantham, 47, passed away after a brief illness on July 19, 2017 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Wayman was born on August 25, 1969 to William Douglas Grantham and Katherine Crum Grantham.
After graduating from Canton Academy in 1988, Wayman attended Mississippi College on a baseball scholarship and graduated in 1992.
He loved coaching football, baseball, and teaching his players life lessons as well. His first coaching experience was at Tri-County Academy coaching football and basketball, then Canton Academy coaching football and baseball. He taught P. E. at Luther Branson School and was assistant football coach at Holmes Community College. Wayman also coached at both Winston Academy and Delta Academy before coaching football, baseball, track, and junior high girls’ basketball at Benton Academy. While at Benton Academy, Wayman was presented the Coach of the Year in football three consecutive years by the Yazoo Herald and was also recognized as the MAIS District 3-A Football Coach of the Year in 2013-2014. His final and favorite coaching experience was coaching football and teaching P.E. at Manchester Academy in Yazoo City, MS. As he often said, “These were the best coaches I have ever had the pleasure of working with.”
Wayman was loved by everyone and he loved everyone as well. He treated people with respect. Not only was he a loyal friend to all who knew him, but he was a loving husband, father, son, and brother. He was especially proud of his wife, Judy, and his sons. He enjoyed spending quality time with all family members and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Wayman was preceded in death by his father William Douglas Grantham. Wayman is survived by his wife Judy Sanders Grantham, his mother Katherine Crum Grantham, and his sons Hunter Weston Grantham, Landon Jay Grantham, and stepson Logan Jarrett Moore. He is survived by his sister Suzy (Ken) Coleman and nephews Cody and Colton Coleman.

Visitation will be held at Breeland Funeral Home Friday, July 21 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12 p.m. until the 2 p.m. chapel service. Burial will be in the Canton Cemetery.
