Wanza McConnell Person, 85, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away surrounded by family on August 11, 2021.
A memorial service was held on Aug. 14, 2021 in the home of Dale and Sandra Sands McKinney.
Born in Rodessa, Louisiana in 1936, she was the daughter of James Claybern “Mac” and Berniece McConnell. She attended Bentonia High School and continued her education at Midland College.
She was the widow of Oscar Person, and they shared 13 years of marriage.
Wanza played an active role in her community and was a member of many organizations, including the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was most proud of her genealogical work and could always be found with a book in her hand.
She leaves behind her children, Sandra McKinney (Dale), Robert Sands, and Gloria Castleberry (Johnny); nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and siblings Gloria Kirk and Robert McConnell, both of Mississippi.
