Thomas Junior Woods, 86, passed away on January 21, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS. Mr. Woods was born December 29, 1935, in Skene, MS to Thomas Alexander and Willie Vivian (Farmer) Woods. He was the husband of Betty Jean Aust Woods. They shared 62 years of marriage.
He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Yazoo City, MS. He enjoyed gospel songs and singing in church. He was a lifetime builder and master carpenter. He was very well known in the community. He will be remembered for his Christian character, his wisdom, craftsmanship and playful spirit.
He is survived by his spouse, Betty Jean Woods; his children, Cyndi (Tim) Spencer of Flora, Tony (Tara) Woods of Yazoo City, Pam (Ray) Burgett of Meridian, MS and Billy Woods of Yazoo City; his grandchildren, Macy (Jacob) Keith of Madison, MS, Kaitlyn (Scott) Stogner of Brandon, MS, Tyler and Dylan Burgett of Jacksonville, FL, Zachary Woods of Arkansas and Luke Woods of Yazoo City; six great grandchildren, Myles and Mason Keith, Micah, Ella and Elijah and the soon-to-be Ivy James Stogner; brother, Bobbie (Ann) of Winona; a sister, Barbara Ann (William) Brunson of Grenada; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Alexander and Willie Vivian Woods; his brothers, James, Raymond, and Luther; and his sisters, Vergie Taylor, Wilma Godwin, Bertie Mae Mathis and Pauline Clark.
All services will be held on Tuesday, January 25 at Parkview Church of God. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am until the time of service at 11:00 am under the direction of Stricklin King Funeral Home.
