Leroy Girard, 98, of Jackson and formerly of Yazoo City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Funeral services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with Father Elvin Sunds officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Girard was a retired carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, a veteran of World War II and the oldest member of American Legion Post 102 in Jackson. He was a member of Saint Therese Catholic Church in Jackson.
He loved to fish, especially in the Eagle Lake area, and was an avid dancer, even at the age of 97.
Survivors include his daughters, Ailyne McGary of Kentucky and Karen Bondreaux (Glen) of Waveland; sons, Sam Girard of Bentonia and James Belvin Girard of Benton; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
