Gladys Carraway Allgood of Vaughan died June 19, 2017 at Manhattan Nursing Home in Jackson.
Mrs. Allgood was born September 23, 1916 to Richard and Florence Carraway of Utica. She married Rev. James K. Allgood in 1936 in Brookhaven. They had two children, Mary Lane and Jimmy, both born in Brookhaven where Rev. Allgood had his First full time church at Mt Zion Baptist Church
She was a very faithful pastor’s wife from 1936 to 1981 when Rev. Allgood retired from Black Jack Baptist Church at Vaughan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. James Allgood, two great grandchildren, Jamie Nichols and Lindsey Nichols and daughter-in-law Nancy Allgood.
Mrs. Allgood is survived by her daughter Mary Lane Nichols and husband Arthur Siegel and son James K. Allgood, Jr and wife Lucy of Jackson, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.. Thursday June 22at Black Jack Baptist Church followed by services at 2:30 p.m. at the church. Rev. David White and Rev. Ken Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in Black Jack Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Her grandsons, great grandsons, and great great grandsons will serve as pallbearers
