James Donald “Donny” Moore, 58, died Sept. 25, 2016 at University Medical Center in Jackson.
Visitation is from noon-1 p.m. Friday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Funeral services are Friday at 1 p.m. the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Moore was born Aug. 7, 1958 in Yazoo City to Lawrence and Ruby Jewel Sheppard Moore. He was an artist and a Baptist. After graduating from Yazoo City High School in 1976, he graduated from the Memphis College of Art and studied graphic design in Texas. He served as president of the Mississippi Artists’ Guild and was a member of the Mississippi Watercolor Association. Donny had a unique watercolor style, and he won numerous awards for his work. He was previously voted Yazoo’s Best Artist by readers of The Yazoo Herald, and his local art displays were always popular.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, George Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Renee Moore of Canton; stepdaughters, Katie Murphy (Nick) and Sarabeth Hudson (Doug); brother, Larry Moore (Jackie) of Yazoo City; and a sister, Barbara Arnold (Chuck) of Jackson; three step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
