Cynthia Joann Norman beloved mother, wife, sister, and aunt died peacefully on October 30, 2024, after a prolonged illness relating to complications from abdominal surgery. Over 10 months, Cindy fought courageously despite enormous obstacles. Her strength remained steadfast even in her final days with family by her side.
Cynthia JoAnn Norman was born on March 6, 1960, in Rochelle, Illinois, the fourth child and first daughter of Dewey and Elsie Williams. Cindy as she was affectionately known, traveled with her family throughout her childhood and into adulthood across Illinois, Kentucky, Tucson, AZ, and Birmingham, AL, as her father ministered the gospel. On her father’s call to Yazoo City, MS, Cindy would meet the love of her life Michael Norman. Cindy and Mike were matched by Michael’s aunt, Margaret Norman, who attended Westwood Baptist Church, where Cindy’s father preached. The couple’s first date was a church Christmas party on December 21, 1984. Michael proposed five weeks later, and the couple were married on May 11, 1985, by her father in Yazoo City. Cindy and Mike would welcome their first daughter, Kristina Denise Norman, on July 11, 1989, — the same day she suffered a near fatal motorcycle wreck eight years prior. Their second child son, Michael David Ross Norman, was born on December 21, 1991, seven years to the day the couple first met. Cindy loved dates and keeping up with people’s birthdays, anniversaries and celebrating the little moments in life. Prior to becoming a homemaker. Cindy was employed at McDonald’s and Ebsco, where she thoroughly enjoyed office work. She was a homemaker who found joy in everyday tasks, especially her laundry. Her greatest joys in life were her two children, Kristina and Michael. She also loved her niece, Kelsie McLemore, as a granddaughter, welcoming her into her home where she spent weeks at a time. Cindy organized and hosted many family gatherings following her parents’ passing. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone she met. Cindy’s most endearing trait was her selflessness and kindness towards others.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Daniel (Donna) and Darryl (Peggy) Williams, and nephews, Jeff Williams and D.J. Shadburn. She leaves behind her husband of 39 years Mike Norman, of Yazoo City, MS; daughter, Kristina Norman of Canton, MS; son, Michael Norman, of Yazoo City, MS; sisters, Sue Williams, of Yazoo City, MS and Rhoda (Mark) Kyle, of Corinth, MS; brothers, Phil (Margo) Williams of Las Vegas, NV and Paul (Dottie) Williams, of Crest Hill, IL; and uncles, Clyde (Mary Pat) Golden, and Dennis (Sue) Golden.
