Yazoo County Soil & Water Conservation District, a member of the Mississippi Association of Conservation Districts (MACD), announces its annual call for applications for five scholarships to be awarded in January 2017.
The scholarship award amounts are:
First place $5,000
Second place $5,000
Third place $5,000
Fourth place $3,000
Fifth place $3,000.
Scholarship awards are open to any college sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student enrolled in a college or university in the state of Mississippi.
Applications will be evaluated based on student’s grade point average, activities and leadership qualities, financial need and supporting materials. Any student may apply regardless of the student’s field of study; however, an applicant pursuing a conservation-related field of study may be awarded extra points.
MACD is a non-profit organization made up of the state’s 82 Soil and Water Conservation Districts to promote the conservation of Mississippi’s natural resources through education and outreach.
