A Yazoo City man was killed in a house fire Wednesday evening as the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
Responders arrived at 402 Lucille Street around 7:21 p.m. to find the mobile home fully engulfed in flames.
Kenneth Washington, city fire marshal, said he is working with the state fire marshal to determine the cause of the fire. He said when responders arrived on the scene, they were unable to enter the home.
“We are still investigating at this time,” Washington said. “The victim was still inside when first responders arrived. No one else was inside.”
Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers said a man was inside the home, which was fully engulfed by the fire.
“We believe the man to be Lynn McAllister Jr.,” Shivers said. “We can’t positively identify him until we do DNA testing with the family. We can’t legally identify until we do that. The victim’s body was found inside the trailer after the fire department was able to make an entrance.”
No other injuries were reported at the scene.
