A Yazoo City man is dead after being shot multiple times following a heated disagreement at a local apartment complex this week.
Stanley D. Washington was pronounced dead at a Jackson hospital early Tuesday morning.
Osker Newton, 67, was charged with murder in the shooting death of Washington in the 100 block of Delta Circle Apartments around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
“According to witnesses, the suspect asked everyone to leave his house,” said Police Chief Ron Sampson. “There was then a public exchange between the victim and the suspect that led to shots being fired by the suspect, striking the victim.”
Sampson said Washington was struck multiple times, including in his chest, lower abdomen and leg.
“The victim was transported to the University Medical Center, where he later died the following morning,” Sampson said.
