A scorned girlfriend is charged with pouring liquor on her boyfriend and setting him on fire during a heated argument.
Sheila Battle was charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly soaked her boyfriend in vodka before lighting him on fire.
“She threw vodka on him and then used an aerosol accelerator and a cigarette lighter to light him on fire,” said Capt. William Nevels, with the Yazoo City Police Department.
Nevels said the victim was treated for his injuries at a local hospital and has been released.
In other law enforcement news, a Yazoo City man was charged with a home invasion.
Fernando Weekly was charged with residential burglary after he allegedly barged into a home and threatened two females and five children with a handgun.
No injuries were reported from the incident, and Nevels said more charges will follow.
