Two men are wanted in connection to two armed robberies that occurred in Yazoo City Monday night.
Police Chief Ronald Sampson said his investigators are searching for two black male suspects who attempted to rob a man at a local convenient store and later snatched a purse from a woman at gunpoint at a local movie theater.
Sampson said the first attempted armed robbery occurred at Jerry’s Quick Stop around 6:15 p.m. Monday.
“A man was leaving the store with items he purchased and began putting them in the back of his truck,” Sampson said. “A black male in a blue hoodie and shorts displayed an unknown weapon and tried to take money from the victim.”
Sampson said the victim refused to hand him his money and fought the suspect off, who later fled the scene.
Twenty minutes later, Sampson said a female was approached by the same suspects in the parking lot of the Plaza Twin Cinema.
“As the female was loading her car, she was approached by a man asking to use her cell phone,” Sampson said. “When she told him she did not have a cell phone, he pointed a gun at her and snatched her purse.”
Sampson said items from the purse were later found behind the theater.
Sampson said his department is working with vague descriptions of the suspects at this point. He said one male was wearing a blue hoodie and shorts while the other was dressed in all black.
Investigators will also be checking video surveillance footage from the convenience store in an effort to identify the suspects.
