Two suspects were charged in connection with a shooting that left one man shot in the head and led to a high speed chase all over the city last weekend.
Cruzette Lofton was charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
Arthur Linburger was charged with felony evasion.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff's Department, said the incident stemmed from an altercation at a liquor store on Fifteenth Street.
"Shots were fired at the liquor store, and deputies just happened to be in the area on an unrelated call," Gann said. "The deputies heard the shots fired, and a chase with the two suspects began."
Gann said Linburger was the driver of the vehicle while Lofton was the passenger.
A victim was shot in the head at the liquor store during the altercation.
Gann said the most recent report he had was that the victim was in stable condition.
The high-speed chase went throughout the community with the suspects firing shots at the responding deputies and city police officers.
"A patrol unit was struck by bullets," Gann said.
The chase ended on West Second Street, where both suspects fled from the vehicle. Two hours later, Lofton was apprehended.
Linburger turned himself in to authorities on Sunday.
