Two men have been charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to a Willow Wood apartment last March, with investigators still on the hunt for the third and final suspect.
Kordell Cooper, 31, of 110 Lucille St., was charged with arson after being arrested by officers last Wednesday.
Officers apprehended another suspect, Jermaine L. Robinson, in a prior arrest. He has since been bound over to the Grand Jury.
Capt. Tilmon Clifton, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said the fire erupted inside a home at the Willow Wood Apartment Complex on March 28.
“Upon arrival, officers spoke with a complainant at the apartment who said they saw three black males running from the apartment immediately after it caught on fire,” Clifton said. “Officers noticed the outside door entrance of the apartment had been on fire. There was a heavy gas smell and damage at the time.”
As of press time, no bond was set for Cooper.
“The case is also still under investigation as we look for the third suspect,” Clifton added.
The Yazoo City Police Department and the Yazoo City Fire Marshal are jointly investigating the case.
