Two suspects involved in separate incidents are wanted by the Yazoo City Police Department in connection to altercations that led to stabbings over the weekend.
While one incident involved a victim being stabbed with a screwdriver by a belligerent suspect, the other incident is being classified as an attempted murder due to the severity of the victim’s injuries.
As of press time, William Taylor and David Wright remained on the run.
Capt. William Nevels, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said Taylor is wanted for allegedly stabbing his own cousin multiple times with a screwdriver. The incident occurred early Sunday morning at a home on East Twelfth Street.
“Officers were called to the emergency room at the Baptist Medical Center Yazoo to make contact with the victim who was there,” Nevels said. “The victim said he was trying to help Taylor, who we believe was intoxicated. Taylor then grew belligerent and stabbed the victim multiple times with a screwdriver.”
Once apprehended, Taylor will be charged with aggravated assault.
A second stabbing also occurred in a home on West Madison Street, Nevels said. The suspect, Wright, is wanted for attempted murder.
“Wright had an altercation with the victim, which led to him stabbing him seven times with a knife,” Nevels said. “The victim was airlifted to the University Medical Center, where he received medical attention.”
