The suspect wanted for his involvement in a Yazoo City shooting was arrested last week.
Walter Anfield was arrested by police officers last Monday and charged with aggravated assault, Chief Ronald Sampson said.
The shooting occurred earlier this month on Lucel Street after an altercation between Cedric Ross and Anfield. Both men were airlifted to a Jackson hospital shortly after shots were fired during their confrontation.
“The victim (Ross) was shot by Anfield,” Sampson said, in a previous interview.
Ross received medical treatment following the shooting.
Sampson said Anfield was released from the hospital after recovering from a gunshot wound in his left upper thigh.
“Ross was able to identify Anfield as the person who shot him,” Sampson said.
A warrant was issued for Anfield, who is a habitual offender. His arrest followed a few days later.
