A husband and wife were among a group of suspects charged with burglaries in Yazoo County.
James Nevels, 24, and Brittany Nevels, 26, both of 3873 Fletcher’s Chapel Road, were arrested by the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department this week in connection with burglaries on Davis Road and Pearce Road.
Also charged in connection with these burglaries are Bobby Ray, 29, of 136 Locust Grove, and Tommy Cagle, 40, of Bentonia.
Sheriff Jake Sheriff said Ray is believed to be the ringleader of the group. Ray was arrested on July 2.
Cagle was arrested Wednesday after being found in possession of a gun and three rings stolen from the Davis Road residence. Cagle is charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Most of the stolen items have been recovered. Sheriff said that more arrests may be made.
Deputies made another burglary arrest after making a traffic stop in the Little Yazoo area.
Deputies stopped a truck pulling a trailer after getting a tip from a concerned citizen. When they located the vehicle, deputies noticed the license plate tag was upside down.
After making the stop, deputies discovered that the trailer contained items that had been stolen from a deer camp in Warren County.
Tony Bankston and Tanya Vancleave were charged with possession of stolen property and burglary.
Vancleave was also charged with possession of a controlled substance after deputies found a little over half a gram of methamphetamine in her possession.
Chief Investigator Terry Gann said Bankston and Vancleave were also wanted for a burglary that took place on Old Benton Road in Yazoo County.
“They admitted where they sold the stolen TV, and it was recovered and returned to the owner,” Gann said.
In other news, the sheriff’s department has recovered all of the guns that were stolen in a June burglary of a home on White’s Lane.
Wesley Carter, 24, and Tyler Miles, 28, are both charged with burglary and possession of stolen property. Sheriff said there are also warrants out for other suspects in this case.
