The second suspect, in what investigators are calling an inside job, is behind bars after allegedly robbing a 911 dispatcher at gunpoint.
Jared Waters, 19, was charged with armed robbery. A Yazoo County dispatcher, Terrance Freeman, was also charged with accessory to armed robbery earlier this week.
“Waters and Freeman were co-conspirators with this robbery,” said Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department.
A female 911 dispatcher was robbed at gunpoint last week. Investigators said fellow dispatcher Freeman was in the restroom at the time of the robbery, but he allegedly let Waters inside the 911 dispatch center.
Investigators said Freeman put a piece of cardboard in the door so that it wouldn’t secure. The two suspects also were allegedly texting each other moments before the robbery.
The victim’s purse was found behind the post office, along with a sport jacket that Waters was seen wearing while talking to Freeman leading up to the robbery.
Waters remained in jail as of press time.
