An altercation at a local pool hall turned bloody last week with one victim remaining in the hospital after being shot during the fight.
Arthur Limburger was charged with aggravated assault with use of a deadly weapon.
Although Limburger is claiming self-defense, detectives said the investigation continues to put the pieces together.
“We have nothing that confirms or disputes that it may have been self defense,” said Tilmon Clifton, with the Yazoo City Police Department. “We are still investigating this incident and encourage anyone with any information to come speak with us.”
The incident began around 11 p.m. last Wednesday at Jay’s Pool Hall on West Broadway.
“The incident did not occur inside the business but rather in the front parking lot,” Clifton added.
An verbal altercation began between Limburger and the victim. The Yazoo Herald does not identify victims of crime.
“Guns were then displayed,” Clifton said. “Ultimately, the victim was shot by the suspect.”
The victim was taken to the Baptist Medical Center Yazoo, where he was later airlifted to a Jackson hospital.
The victim remained in the hospital as of press time. His condition has not been released.
In other crime news, there has still been no arrest in a Mound Street shooting.
Clifton said shots were fired during an altercation on Mound Street that left one victim being struck in the leg.
“No one has been arrested, and we are still investigating what happened,” Clifton said.
Anyone with any information on these two shootings should call the police department at 746-1131 or Crimestoppers at 746-TIPS.
