Analytical data from the Yazoo City Police Department is being prepared to reveal the areas within the community where crime is most visible.
Interim Chief Jay Winstead said his department is researching criminal data from various locations within the city to determine what proactive steps can be made to deter the level of crimes within those areas.
“We are analyzing our crime statistics to identify hot spots within our community so that we can address them accordingly,” Winstead said. “We will have a more detailed report to present at the next Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting.”
Winstead said the crime statistics of various areas within the city give the department a blueprint as to what areas to become proactive in deterring crime.
“Numbers and data show facts,” Winstead said. “We want to ensure we have the assets for those areas within our community where data shows heightened criminal activities to solve and deter these crimes.”
