A Yazoo City man was arrested after he allegedly charged a number of items, falsely claiming to be a local farm employee, and then attempted to sell them to another business.
Jackie Robinson was charged with felony false pretense and was bound over to the Grand Jury.
Capt. Tilmon Clifton with the Yazoo City Police Department said Robinson entered Carquest Auto Parts claiming that he worked for a local farm company.
“He claimed that he was told to make several purchases of certain items and to charge it to the farm,” Tilmon said. “After making those purchases, he then went to another business and attempted to sell the items he had just charged to the farm business.”
At that particular business, Tilmon said the employee he attempted to sell the items to contacted Carquest to verify the identity of Robinson.
“After giving the same description of the suspect, the police were notified,” Tilmon said. “Officers then noticed those same items inside Robinson’s vehicle. Through our investigation, it was determined that Robinson had falsely identified himself as a farm employee.”
