Burglaries continue to occur along Yazoo County highways, with more reported over the last few days.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said there have been a number of burglaries reported along U.S. Highway 49, in the Little Yazoo area. But now he said the suspects are hitting the Benton area with a few burglaries reported on Miss. Highway 16.
“I believe all these burglaries are connected,” Gann said. “There seems to be a pattern with the burglaries occurring near highways, particularly Highway 49 and now Highway 16.”
Gann said several more burglaries have been reported since last Thursday.
There was one report of a suspicious vehicle in the Patterson Road area; a white, four-door Nissan car.
As of press time, no arrests had been made. But Gann said the department is following a few leads in their investigation. He said the majority of items stolen include guns, jewelry and electronics.
“We are asking that people who are home all day to keep an eye out within their neighborhoods,” Gann said. “Watch each other’s houses. If you see any suspicious activity or vehicles, give us a call.”
