The man who placed an enormous political sign near Yazoo City’s busiest intersection said he has removed the sign because it didn’t send the message he intended.
Tony Kane said he wants to apologize to the community after the controversy that followed the sign he placed on a hill near Four Points along U.S. Highway 49.
The sign, which read “Warning Democrats! Leave our president alone and let him do his job! Warning Democrats! Do your job or the American people will impeach you! Warning Republicans! Support the president or the American people will impeach you!,” quickly drew a great deal of attention.
Kane said he was surprised that the sign received so much negative response.
“I was just trying to do something good for our community,” Kane said. “My point was that when any of us are hired to do a job, we are expected to do that job. The same thing should be true in Washington.”
Kane said he hoped that the sign would attract positive attention to Yazoo City, and he was saddened by the negative response.
“I just want to apologize to the community because I didn’t have any bad intentions,” he said. “I also want to apologize to the landowners because I didn’t ask their permission. I put it up on my own.”
