A Yazoo County man was apprehended by local deputies after a stolen boat from Wyoming was found in his possession.
William Jenkins, 35, was charged with possession of stolen property last Wednesday.
Terry Gann, chief investigator with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said Jenkins and two other suspects allegedly stole a boat while they were recently in Wyoming.
“A tip led us to a house on Graball, where we found the boat and traced it back as being stolen,” Gann said. “Actually, the person who called in the tip to deputies found paperwork inside the boat that listed the contact information for the owner. The tipster called the owner, verified it was in fact stolen and then contacted us.”
Jenkins was not at home when deputies first found the stolen boat, but he was apprehended shortly afterward at another location.
The two other suspects are not Mississippi residents. One is believed to be from Louisiana while the other is from Wyoming.
“We are currently looking for the other two suspects, but they have probably already left the state since they are not from here,” Gann added.
