A Yazoo City man was arrested after he allegedly fired shots into the home of his former girlfriend, who happens to be a local police officer.
Darrius Moore was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, domestic violence-aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a police officer and malicious mischief.
Police Chief Ronald Sampson said the shooting occurred early Monday morning, and that no one was injured during the altercation.
“Moore went to the officer’s house to gain entry,” Sampson said. “They do have children together, but they are not currently in a relationship. Moore became angry when he was not allowed to enter the home.”
Sampson said after the final refusal, Moore stood in the middle of Cypress Street and began firing shots toward the officer’s home.
“Several rounds struck the officer’s vehicle and one round penetrated the wall of the home into the bedroom,” Sampson said. “No one was injured during the incident, however.”
Sampson said Moore fled the scene but was later apprehended by the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department. He was soon handed over the police department to be charged in the shooting.
