President-elect Donald Trump carried Mississippi, but Hillary Clinton held the advantage in Yazoo County Tuesday.
Clinton carried Yazoo County with 53.02 percent of the vote. She received 4,988 votes to Donald Trump’s 4,300.
U.S. Rep. District 2
U.S. Rep Bennie Thompson, defeated John Bouie II 5,330-3,403 in Yazoo County as Thompson easily went on to win another term in the Second Congressional District.
MS Supreme Court
In the Supreme Court Justice race Jim Kitchens, who was re-elected, beat Kenny Griffis 5,017-3,387 in Yazoo.
Court of Appeals
In the District 2 Court of Appeals race, Latrice Westrbrooks led incumbent Ceola James 4,964-2,480 in Yazoo County. Westbrooks also defeated James overall.
School Board
Millicent Ledbetter defeated Carl Shaffer and Susan A. Jenkins for the District 2 seat on the Yazoo County School Board. Ledbetter received 601 votes to Shaffer’s 549 and Jenkins 206.
Chastity Ingram May Magyar and Patsy Burrough were uncontested in county school board races.
Uncontested Races
William “Coach” Dodd was also uncontested for the Yazoo Mississippi Delta District Levee Commissioner. Dodd received 1,743 vote with six write-ins.
None of the incumbent election commissioners were challenged
