A Yazoo City man caught littering led to a drug arrest with officers uncovering multiple bags of marijuana and prescription pills.
Cordarius Davis was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute and littering.
Capt. Tilmon Clifton, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said officers first noticed Davis sitting in a vehicle in the McDonald’s parking lot around 12:15 p.m. last Thursday.
“He was on the passenger side of the vehicle with a cigar in his hand, thumping the tobacco on the ground,” Clifton said. “Upon approaching the vehicle to question Davis about littering, he voluntarily handed marijuana over to the officers.”
Clifton said the driver of the vehicle was also questioned by officers. He was later charged with a suspended driver’s license.
“Upon a complete search of the vehicle, marijuana and prescription pills were found under Davis where he was sitting,” Clifton added.
In total, officers recovered 13 bags of marijuana and a multitude of Xanax pills.
Davis remained in jail as of press time with a $60,000 bond.
