Shooting rounds into the air may not have been such a good idea for two suspects who were later found with a large number of drugs, including the first possible possession of liquid THC case in Yazoo County.
Wayne Hudson Jr. and Eric Carter Jr. were both charged with discharging a firearm within the city limits. But Hudson was also charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. More charges could be coming for Hudson pending affirmation from the state crime lab that he was in possession of liquid THC.
Interim Police Chief Jay Winstead said his department received a call from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries in reference to the suspects firing shots at Lammons Point, also known as The View near the pumping station along Highway 3.
“Officers went out in reference to shooting within the city limits,” Winstead said. “Upon questioning the suspects and searching the vehicle they were in, officers discovered two handguns, a pound of marijuana, scales and 11 bottles labeled as THC.”
Winstead said his department also received assistance from the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department.
“Speaking with Chief Investigator Terry Gann, we have determined that this was the first encounter for local law enforcement with potential liquid THC,” Winstead said. “Those bottles have been sent to the crime lab for confirmation.”
