Although it was not included in the 57 new cases reported by the state Wednesday morning, a fourth case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Yazoo County.
The Mississippi State Department of Health reported a total of 377 cases statewide, and a second death. The second victim was a man in his 60s from Holmes County. The first reported death was in Harrison County. A total of 1,943 people had been tested in Mississippi as of this morning.
Twenty-seven percent of those who have tested positive in Mississippi so far have required hospitalization.
At this time leaders on both the state and local level are urging residents to help reduce the threat by staying at home as much as possible, avoiding crowds and frequently washing hands.
