The town of Bentonia will hold a special election next week to fill the seat of an alderman who resigned last month.
Kim Sligh, who is entering retirement, resigned from the town board on June 30.
Five candidates have qualified to fill his post.
The special election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Candidates include Robert L. Demus, Patricia S. Ferris, Colby C. Parks, Maurice Shaffer Sr. and Dustin Wadford.
If a runoff occurs, a second election will be held one week after the regular election.
